1. About us

Mooies Cake Courier is operated by Mooies Couture Cake House, of Mill Close, Chelmsford, Essex CM14PG. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Mooies Cake Courier; “you” and “your” refer to the customer booking a delivery.

2. What this service covers

We provide collection and delivery of cakes and related bakery items within the areas and service tiers set out on our booking pages. Bookings made through our instant-quote zones (Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3) are for a single collection point and a single delivery point only, for a standard-size, single-tier cake, booked in advance of the delivery date.

Any job outside this scope — including but not limited to multiple collection or delivery points, tiered or oversized cakes, same-day or emergency requests, or destinations outside our published zones — is not covered by the instant-quote pricing and must be booked through our custom quote process. We reserve the right to decline or re-quote any booking that does not match the service actually required, including bookings made through the wrong zone in error.

3. Booking and payment

3.1. Bookings are confirmed only once payment has been received in full through our online checkout (for instant-quote zone bookings) or once we have expressly confirmed a quote and it has been paid (for custom-quote bookings).

3.2. You are responsible for providing accurate collection and delivery addresses, contact details, and timing requirements at the time of booking. We are not liable for delays or failed deliveries caused by incomplete or inaccurate information provided by you.

3.3. If we determine that a booking made through an instant-quote zone in fact requires a different zone, tier, or custom quote (for example, the delivery address falls outside the zone selected), we will contact you to arrange the price difference before proceeding. We reserve the right to decline the booking or offer a refund if this cannot be resolved.

3.4. Prices include the applicable zone fee and any add-ons selected at checkout. Zone 2 and Zone 3 pricing includes an allowance for the London Congestion Charge and/or Dartford Crossing (Dart Charge) where applicable; these are not charged separately.

4. Cancellations and changes

4.1. Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled collection time are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours are non-refundable, as we will likely have already allocated time and resources to the job.

4.2. If you need to change the collection or delivery address, date, or time after booking, contact us as soon as possible via WhatsApp / bookings@mooies.co.uk. We will try to accommodate changes but cannot guarantee this, particularly for late changes.

4.3. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a booking due to circumstances beyond our control (severe weather, vehicle breakdown, road closures, etc.). In this case we will contact you as soon as possible to rearrange or offer a full refund.

5. Handling and care of goods

5.1. We take care appropriate to the nature of the item being transported, including securing cakes appropriately for their construction (sponge, mousse, tiered, fondant, etc.) and using suitable packaging, boards, and boxes where these have been booked as add-ons.

5.2. It is your responsibility to ensure the cake is adequately boxed, boarded, and prepared for transport at the point of collection, unless you have specifically booked our packaging add-ons (cake board, reinforced box, box extender) to be provided by us. We are not responsible for damage arising from inadequate packaging that was not part of our add-on service.

5.3. We will take reasonable steps to maintain appropriate temperature and handling conditions during transit. If your item requires refrigeration or specific climate control beyond what we’ve discussed at booking, you must inform us in advance — undisclosed requirements may affect our ability to guarantee the condition of the item on arrival.

6. Insurance and liability

6.1. We hold goods-in-transit insurance covering loss or damage to items in our care during transit, up to £1,000,000.

6.2. Our liability for loss or damage to any item is limited to [the insured value / the cost of the item as declared at booking / a fixed cap], whichever is lower, except where the loss or damage results from our negligence causing death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

6.3. We are not liable for delays, loss, or damage caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to traffic, road closures, extreme weather, or third-party actions.

6.4. You should ensure the item being transported has an appropriate value declared at the time of booking if you wish to claim its full value in the event of loss or damage.

7. Proof of delivery

We provide proof of delivery (photo and/or signature, as applicable) for every completed job. If you require a specific form of proof of delivery, let us know at the time of booking.

8. Data protection

Information you provide when booking (names, addresses, contact details) is used solely to fulfil your delivery and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except as necessary to complete the delivery (e.g. payment processing via Stripe or PayPal).

9. Complaints

If something goes wrong, contact us as soon as possible via WhatsApp / bookings@mooies.co.uk so we can address it promptly. We aim to respond to all complaints within [X business days].

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your booking will apply to that booking.
